My methods are spontaneous, simple and almost always on location. I am not someone to call for an elaborate, staged production – rather you send me out guerrilla-style and I’ll deliver loose yet highly-crafted pictures that resonate because they look and feel real.

Earlier in my career I operated a digital imaging and graphic design studio doing work for Fortune 500 companies and 4A advertising agencies. I taught at the Center for Creative Imaging, International Center for Photography/NY, Palm Beach Photo Workshops and the Visual Studies Workshop. And I've been a consultant to Adobe, DaiNippon Screen, Eastman Kodak, and Scitex.

I have forty years of experience as a commercial photographer, graphic designer, art director, creative director and marketing consultant. As a photographer I shot my first international annual report in 1990. I was one of the first to use digital photography for catalog production in 1994. My work has been profiled in Communication Arts, Korean Photo, Photo District News, Print, and Russian Photo and Video magazines.

While I have a degree from the University of Oregon I consider myself an autodidact with heterodox ideas and methods. I abhor academic institutions and have suspicion/contempt for the art world. Likewise I rarely market or promote my work, preferring that people discover me organically. I understand this being ironic after my making a career in marketing and advertising but I realized the best client relationships aren’t ever going to be based on my happy suck face salesmanship are they?

8x10 film scans, AI and iPhone snaps are mixed throughout my portfolios. I use a wide variety of gear and techniques.

I’m open to portrait commissions, assignments and publishing. My rates are medium to high but I operate efficiently and self art direct (a key reason why you would hire me). Most of my images can be licensed with flexible terms, please let me know your intent and numbers so I can quote.

My prints have been collected worldwide, often by fellow photographers. Prices start at $500 for a state-of-art best archival practices inkjet on Baryta. All prints are custom made and of the highest quality. I stopped trading with people a while ago, sorry.

If you’d like to do a portrait or have some idea you’d like to work on you’re welcome to send a message. Talking is free as it always should be, thanks for looking.
